Will a VacPort work with my central vacuum?
Almost certainly. A VacPort works with most central vacuum brands on the market. The one exception is OVO.
It works if:
- Your central vacuum is piped, with the power unit in a garage, basement or closet
- Your inlets start the vacuum through two thin low-voltage wires
- The switching circuit is 24V, AC or DC
- The pipe is standard 2 in. central vacuum pipe
It does not work with:
- OVO central vacuum systems
- Self-contained vacuums with the inlet built into the unit, including InterVac's GarageVac and RoadVac CS-6 and CS-8
- Portable canister vacuums
How to check in two minutes
Pull the cover off any inlet valve in the house, or unscrew your old sweep port. If you see two thin wires, like doorbell wire, going to the inlet, your system switches on low voltage and a VacPort will run it.
If your old port started the vacuum, a VacPort connected to the same wires will too. On a 24V DC system you may need to reverse the two wires.

Questions
Which central vacuums does a VacPort work with?
Most brands whose inlets switch the power unit on a 24V low-voltage circuit, AC or DC. That covers the large majority of piped central vacuums in North American homes. It does not work with OVO systems.
Why not OVO?
The VacPort is not compatible with OVO central vacuum systems. If you have an OVO, use the dustpan OVO specifies.
Does it work with InterVac vacuums?
Yes, with every piped InterVac system: the InterVac Pro, H-120-E, RM and the RoadVac CS-9, CS-10, CS-RM and CS-RM-RC. It does not work with the GarageVac, RoadVac CS-6 or CS-8, where the inlet is built into the vacuum and there is no pipe to connect to.
AC or DC?
Either. Some central vacuums use a transformer and others a triac, and some put out 24V DC. On DC, if the vacuum does not start, reverse the two wires on the VacPort.
What pipe does it connect to?
Standard 2 in. central vacuum pipe, through an elbow, a coupling, or flexible X640 installation hose with D-900-E threaded couplings.
