Door vs. spring lever
Most automatic dustpans start the vacuum with a toe-kick lever. Press it and it trips a switch; let go and a spring pushes it back. Every use flexes that spring. That is why repair kits for these ports contain a replacement lever and spring, and why so many homeowners are on their second or third port.
The VacPort does not have that lever, and it has no springs at all. The door swings on a coated steel rod. Opening it starts the vacuum and turns on the LED, and two small magnets in the bridge hold it open while you sweep.

Is a sweep port worth it if I already have a central vacuum hose?
