Installing a VacPort
New construction, a retrofit into a finished room, or a straight swap for a worn-out port. Here is what each involves.
Replacing an old port
Same spot, same pipe, same two wires. Screw the trim plate on through the old holes, trace inside it, cut to the line.

Tee into the nearest pipe run with a P-41 sweep tee, route X640 installation hose to the toe kick, and pick up low-voltage wire from the nearest inlet.
A-950-X kit →New construction
Rough in 2 in. pipe and low-voltage wire to the toe kick or baseboard before drywall and cabinets, then set the VacPort at trim-out.

Three ways to connect it
- Elbow: a P-21 or P-28 elbow straight into the pipe behind the toe kick.
- Coupling: a P-30 coupling where the pipe runs straight to the port.
- Flexible hose: X640 installation hose with D-900-E threaded couplings, where the pipe does not line up.
Questions
How long does it take?
A straight replacement on existing pipe and wire is typically under an hour. A new port, where you tee into the main line and run wire, takes longer depending on access.
Where does the low-voltage wire come from?
From the same low-voltage circuit your inlet valves use, usually run alongside the pipe back to the power unit or tapped from the nearest inlet.
